Final design

front cover
I kept my design very similar to my written plan, unlike other magazines the bright colors worked well and didn't make the magazine look too busy or unprofessional. i linked in the color on the headphones to the title this is followed through out my magazine to help the magazine flow and be consistent. I made sure i kept to just 3 colors that i thought were appropriate to the genre of the magazine they also using 3 colors made the magazine not look messy.I also  wanted to keep a consistent theme through out  so just using 3 colors allowed me to do so. i followed the conventions of typical front cover: a kicker, strap lines, mast head, pug and also a bar code. I made sure i Incorporated all of these things as i wanted my magazine to look as professional as possible. the font that i chose for my strap lines look like a stamp you would have when going to a club this works well with the genre of magazine as it is club music. i also used a font which contained palm trees  for the "Ibiza its a new season" as it makes the reader think of the beach and palm trees on tropical island also Ibiza being the main clubbing island.

contents page

I based my contents page on the contents page form DJ mag, i decided to use there's as inspiration as i liked the way they used the colors and the layout, i also thought it looked very professional. I decided to use the purple from the front cover and follow it through to the contents, i thought this would help the magazine flow and keep them linked,I changed the font from the original  plan to "Racer" which it the same font as what i used on the double page spread i liked using the same font through out as it helped the font flow. I think the use of numerous images worked really well, it helps break up the text to make the magazine more relaxed. within in the dance club scene a lot of clubs and bars are in your face bright colors lots of people just having a good a time, i really wanted to show this through my magazine. The use of unstructured imagery helped as it made it look like a party on the page. The use of the bright colors follow the rave theme. Although i don't want the page to look structured everything still fits into place like a jigsaw which is the effect i was going for. The numbers on the images gives a visual reference to the article this is so if the reader finds the image enticing then they can locate the article that follows it. From my original idea i

Double page spread

After looking at my written plan i decided to use the same layout, however after taking my images I changed the font colour, to follow the colours in the images. Turquoise blue was a consistent and vibrant colour which i think stood out, I also thought it was a very "ravey. In the future i would probably change the layout and maybe have one large image covering the one A4 side because i think my double page spread is very text heavy ,I think with the style of the magazine it might work better.

Research and planning for my magazine

 page spread
front cover

Contents page

My contents page will be laid out into four columns so that it is spread out equally and also it makes it look neater and less cluttered,  each column will have topic headings: features, regulars, music and tech. each column will have a color scheme based on bright rave colors, i have done this so that it flows better and helps the reader allocate the article they want to read quicker. I have used the typical rave bright colors as it ties in with my rave/club theme magazine. images taken from articles of rave scenes and famous djs will replace some of the different points, for example the article based on the Dj skream will have an image and a page number instead of the writing, i have doe this so the text is broken up a little and it doesn't  look text heavy, as this may be off putting for the reader also it gives the reader a visual image of what they are going to read. Overall the contents page will look cluttered and packed with information but still structured with topic headings for each article and image placed around to give the reader a visual reference.

Double page spread

The title of the double page spread will be 'let me hear you skream' which is a play on words, the Dj is called Skream but it could also be the action Screaming. The title will be in purple and in the same font as front cover this links both the pages together and shows the audience clearly that they are related. The text will be questions and answers asked to the Dj, the language used will be chatty and informal this allows the reader to relate to the article more. The text is broken up by images of the artist which allows the reader to have a visual reference, like the contents page. The use of images to break up the text makes the magazine more exciting  and enticing. At  the top of the page on both sides there is a topic heading 'Exclusive interview' this is so, when the reader is flicking through the magazine they can see  ' Exclusive interview'  and then decide if they wan to read it, it helps the reader navigate through the magazine easier with out them having to always refer back to the contents page. The back ground to the double page spread will be white and the text boxes will be black with  white text also a white line will go round every image so that they stand out, the use of just the two colors is very effective and stands out more the reader. The rave/club theme is still kept as the questions and the title are going to both be in bright colors.
